HOW DID YOU START PLANNING WEDDINGS IN LEFKA

I have over 10 years’ experience in Greece, first managing luxury villas, co-ordinating tours and events, and finally establishing Lefkas Weddings in 2012. A friend who owns one of the island’s top restaurants had a request from a British couple who wanted to have their wedding there and he was unsure where to begin so I offered to help and the rest is history!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR JOB

I genuinely love weddings and all the pretty and stylish details. Each day is like a jigsaw puzzle with lots of little parts that have to be fitted together to create the individual picture made for the couple. It is such a special time to be around the couple, everyone is happy, on holiday, enjoying the sunshine and the Greek island atmosphere.

As a job, it has immense satisfaction on a professional and personal level. The wedding day is usually the cumulation of a year of hard work and planning. Working on logistics and making dreams literally come true. I love the reaction on the bride’s face when the flowers are delivered, beautifully arranged and scenting the room or the moment the couple sees the reception set up with all their carefully chosen details.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE LEFKAS?

Of all of the islands and regions of Greece, I feel the Ionian is one of the most magical. It’s inspired legends and love stories and it’s the perfect place to say, ‘I do’. I feel lucky I get to spend several months of each year with these beautiful islands as my office. My commute can be a drive into the hillside with breathtaking panoramic views or a speedboat flying accross the bay to Meganisi island. Breakfast meetings at hidden, luxury boutique hotels or in my favourite coffee shop in the old town.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PARTICULAR FAVOURITE MOMENTS FROM YOUR WORK?

Andrew and Maria’s five day wedding extravaganza in 2018 was a personal highlight. 250 people including 150 Australians had an amazing week in Palairos with a different event every night. Each time I watch the trailer I still get goose bumps and remember the great atmosphere. In 2019 I arranged my first baptism which was a new challenge to work on, as there are slightly different elements to a wedding and I was so pleased with the result and look of the day.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL PASSIONATELY ABOUT IN YOUR BUSINESS?

I firmly believe that every couples’ love story is unique and so their wedding should be too. For that reason I do not do packages. My services are completely bespoke and tailored to suit their needs. (Me – Now you see why I love working with her so much!)
